1. Date and Time Data

When we input date and time data, we need to carefully check whether Excel has saved it correctly.

When Excel recognizes our data as a date or time, it automatically converts it to a specific format for display.

2. Default Date Format: Month/Day/Year

By default, Excel displays dates in the Month/Day/Year format.

When we input a date in the Year/Month/Day or Month/Day/Year order, using - or / as separators, Excel can correctly recognize it as a date.

3. Unrecognized Day/Month/Year Format

If the input date is in Day/Month/Year format, Excel will treat it as plain text;

Additionally, if the date separators are spaces or ., Excel will also not recognize it as a date.

4. Input Date Without Year

By default, if a date is input without a year, Excel will interpret it as the current year's custom date format. Here, the date format is still month first, then day.

Note: If Month/Day recognition fails, Excel will attempt to recognize it as Month/Year.

5. Time Segmented by Colons

To input time, use a colon : as the separator for correct recognition by Excel.
